Boudoir Portrait Deadlines for Christmas / Valentine's Day

Hey, ladies! If you were planning to give your special someone a sexy gift of YOU in pictures this Christmas, you'd better hurry. We only have a couple more openings for sessions before the November 22nd cutoff to ensure that the images can be edited and prints ordered and received by Christmas. The design time and production time for our popular PhotoBooks adds another three to four weeks to the process (after the images have been edited). So, it may be too late to get a PhotoBook by Christmas without a rush charge at this late stage.

However, it is still not too late for Valentine's Day gift planning. Sessions with PhotoBooks should be shot by January 3rd at the very latest, to ensure time to have the images edited, PhotoBook designed, ordered, and received in time for February 14th. Sessions without a PhotoBook (prints only) can be shot as late as January 17th.

Have friends who also want boudoir portraits taken? Group session pricing is available!

Check out www.BoudoirByLoren.com for complete details.

Wedding of Jen Watts and Rick Plumhoff

On October 3rd, I was in Alta Loma, CA to document the wedding of Jen Watts and Rick Plumhoff. I have known Jen for several years and previously did a photo shoot for her in 2007 with two of her drum sets in my studio.

Jen and Rick's wedding was held in the backyard of Rick's parents home in Alta Loma. Rick is a drummer as well, and also plays a bit of guitar. So, being the musicians that they are, their wedding and reception was also very musical with a string quartet playing during the ceremony and a big band orchestra playing during the reception.

Just after Jen got in her dress, her mother delivered a special gift to her from Rick. I used the HD video feature of my Canon EOS 5D Mark II camera to catch that moment on video for posterity.

After the ceremony, Jen and Rick and I zipped off to nearby Claremont to shoot the family portraits as well as some romantic portraits of the newlyweds alone.

Wedding of Evelyn Gutierrez & Michael Hayes

On September 5th, we were at the Admiral Kidd Catering & Conference Center in San Diego for the ocean view wedding of Evelyn Gutierrez and Michael Hayes.

After Evelyn got ready in the hotel, we zipped over to Balboa Park for the "reveal" where she sneaked up behind Mike by the koi pond and he saw her in her dress for the first time.

It was about 100 degrees outside and even though Evelyn said she was "sweating my balls off", she was a real trooper while we raced through some quick romantic shots there.

Evelyn had always dreamed of getting a photo of her and her groom in front of the huge blue doors of this particular museum at Balboa Park. But, on this day, when we walked over to it, the doors were opened wide. So, I went inside and sweet talked the guy behind the front desk to allow us to close the big doors for just a minute to catch the shot Evelyn had dreamed of.

Then it was off to Admiral Kidd for the wedding and reception where my second shooter, Shannon Edmonds, and I made the most of the beautiful venue and the equally attractive couple. Some people have asked me if it is important to have a second shooter for a wedding or not (including other wedding photographers). I say "absolutely". Besides helping with posing and organizing the formal and romantic portraits (which helps them get done much quicker), while I'm at the front at the beginning the ceremony, getting shots of the groom watching the bride approach, like this:

... Shannon was in the back, catching different angles of the same moments like these:

Evelyn and Mike were willing to do just about anything to get some cool shots together including lying down in the grass! Okay... so, it was fake grass, but still...

I just love these next few shots as well...

Wedding of Chermine Williams & Eric Smith - Burbank, CA

On Friday, August 21st, we were in Burbank at the Castaway Restaurant for the wedding of Chermine Williams and Eric Smith.

Chermine (or "Moe", as her family and friends call her) was extremely photogenic and her formal portraits reflected that. Besides their engagement session, I had previously also had Chermine in front of my lens for a
Boudoir Portrait session that she had done as a surprise wedding gift for Eric.

For their wedding, I traded second-shooter duties with fellow Pictage member, Kevin Wynn. In return, I'll be shooting second at one of Kevin's weddings on October 24th. Because of this arrangement, Chermine and Eric ended up with two lead level photographers covering their event, even though their contract only called for one (me) plus a second (detail) photographer. What a bonus! And, Kevin did an excellent job, as usual. I look forward to returning the favor in October.

Chermine and Eric had over 200 guests at the wedding, and it almost seemed like half of them were in the bridal party! They had 12 bridesmaids and 12 groomsmen, plus the two flower girls and their handsome young son as the ringbearer. It was a big group!

Wedding of Jamie Creech & Mark Casler

On August 8th, we were at a private estate in the La Cresta community of Murrieta for the wedding of Jamie Creech and Mark Casler. What a fun couple they are!

First, since I didn't have a chance to post it on the blog yet, let's flash back to their engagement session that I shot on June 18th down in Mission Beach, the site of Mark's proposal.

The session started at Belmont Park...

... and then we walked down to the beach...

... and then back up to Belmont Park for a couple last minute shots...

As you can see, this is an extremely fun couple. So, I could hardly wait for their wedding day, because I knew that it would be a blast, and it was.

Besides being a ton of fun (including the bride and groom jumping on a trampoline!), Jamie's formal bridal portraits came out magical. Just as I was about to click the shutter on a couple of the shots, the breeze would blow strands of her hair or the veil into the perfect flowing positions.

Wedding of Amanda Jokela & Ronny Krogstad

Once again, I find myself so busy taking pictures that my blog has fallen behind by several weeks! I've photographed some great weddings over the past couple months. So, I'll do my best to get caught up over the next week on this blog so everyone care see what I've been up to!

On Sunday, July 12th, we were at Laguna Village in Laguna Beach for the wedding of Amanda Jokela and Ronny Krogstad.

The weather was perfect for an outdoor wedding at the beach -- not too hot and not too cold.

Amanda turned the calendar back with her retro look with a birdcage veil that highlighted the look perfectly. Meanwhile, Ronny and his guys mixed it up with red satin vests and black canvas Vans.

Wedding of Andrea Calderon & Andrew Zaragoza

On Saturday, June 13th I photographed the wedding of Andrea Calderon and Andrew Zaragoza in Temecula. Andrea and her girls got ready in the bridal suite at the Gershon Bachus Vintners, where the reception would be held later.

Wedding photographers always love it when their couples are attractive, and I have really been lucking out lately with some stunningly-beautiful brides and their equally handsome grooms. Andrea was no exception with a face and smile that reminds me of actress Scarlett Johansson. Andrew was equally handsome, making the couple a perfect fairy tale couple all through the day.

Their ceremony was at the St. Catherine of Alexandria church in Temecula, which I have photographed at many times before. Most recently on February 21st of this year for the wedding of Krystle Vagara and Shawn Balteff.

After the ceremony it was back to Gershon Bachus Vintners for some fun shots with the bridal party and some spectacularly romantic shots of the new Mr. and Mrs. Zaragoza alone. This winery has some excellent locations for great photos and my second shooter, Shannon, and I made a point to try and utilize as much of it as possible before Andrea and Andrew made a quick change into their party clothes and made their grand entrance into the reception.

The event planners for this wedding were Debi Matthews and Christie Campbell from The Socialites Event Planners. Not only were Debi and Christie on top of things and made the reception look awesome, but they are way cool and friendly too! If you need a wedding planner that knows what they're doing, call these girls!

It was a fun night for sure! Click the PLAY icon in the window below to view a slideshow of highlights from this wedding.

Here is what Andrea & Andrew had to say:
"Without question, we loved working with Loren for our wedding photography experience. He was terrific. He was fun, warm, professional and his attention to detail makes his photographs truly works of art. We look forward to having Loren Scott as our photographer for the future events in our lives. Thanks again for your amazing talent." -the Zaragoza's
And here is what Debi & Christie, their wedding planners from The Socialites Event Planning Company, said when they saw the slideshow above:
"WOW! That was FANTASTIC! You are by far one of the best EVER! We certainly have worked with many photographers.....but clearly you have what it takes to capture all of the best moments. We are so excited to be working with you this coming September. YOU will be our number one recommendation going forward!- Deb & Christie
Congratulations Andrea and Andrew
